17/08/2018. Merry Matti: revived Karelian fairy-tale

August 14, 2018: At the National Library of Karelia, our young friends immersed in the atmosphere of a Karelian fairy-tale Merry Matti. During a fascinating game program children got acquainted with the main character of a Karelian fairy-tale Merry Matti, saw real small kanteles and learned, how our mothers and grandmothers could watch fairy tales not only on TV but also on the "big screen" using a slide projector and filmstrips. At a creative workshop, children felt to be real wizards and made souvenirs – the character of a Karelian fairy-tale and a bear, the owner of the forest.

13/08/2018. Library is the territory for children’s reading

The National Library of Karelia is actively continuing work on placing book collections of the Center for Children's Reading, dedusting and bar-coding books, arranging information and playing space for our young readers. Children's Periodicals – educational and informative publications, craft and animal magazines –have already taken their places on bright library shelves in the winter garden and reading rooms of the library. We are ready to meet readers of all ages: preschoolers and schoolchildren, parents, educators and teachers. By efforts of librarians, a cozy information and gaming atmosphere has been created at the Center for Children's Reading, where young patrons can read books and usefully spend leisure time and embody their creative ideas.

03/08/2018. The National Library of Karelia held a round table discussion WRITER-LIBRARY-READER

July 31, 2018: At the conference hall, the National Library of Karelia held a round table discussion WRITER-LIBRARY-READER. The meeting was held in the framework of the festival Petroglyph which is organized annually by the autonomous non-profit organization on support and implementation of cultural and educational projects Petroglyph. The guests of the round table discussion were the Head of Moscow A. P. Chekhov Library Elena Pahomova and graphic designer Yakov Krasnovski, the art director of the design bureau "Barry & Brom", a laureate of the international competition Image of the Book (2017) in the category The Best Book Design.

July 27, 2018: In Sortavala, the Priladozhsky Museum and Educational Center of the Saint-Petersburg state Roerich family Museum and Institute was opened. Roerich was called the poet of the North, the only singer and interpreter of its mysterious soul, the master who gave new life to the bygone cultures.

27/07/2018. Visiting the Moomins

July 24, 2018: The National Library of Karelia held a program Inspiration of the Moominvalley dedicated to the Finnish writer Tove Jansson. Inspiration is the key word here. The warmth of the parents' home, acceptance and respect of relatives, friendly evenings, nature, a house by the sea, acquaintance with artists and poets – all this inspired Tove Jansson to create fairy tales filled with kindness, friendship and warm attitude to the strangest creatures.

10/07/2018. Hundreds of Belomorsk citizens came to the meeting with the National Library of Karelia

July 7, 2018: The Day of the Republic of Karelia with the National Library of Karelia was held on the coast of the White Sea. Despite the stinginess of the northern sun, this day was full of warmth, smiles, festive mood and bright spectacular events.The public path to the mobile library moored to the Library Pier of Belomorsk and the book stall of the National Library of Karelia couldn’t be overgrown.

June 28, 2018: In the framework of Cultural and Business Mission of Saint-Petersburg in Karelia, the National Library of Karelia held a round table discussion Children at a Public Library: New Forms of Promotion of Reading. The round table discussion was attended by the Head of A. S. Pushkin Central City Children’s Library of Saint-Petersburg Julia Dementeva, the Head of the National Library of Karelia Marina Nikishina, the Scientific Secretary, the Executive Director of the Library Association of the Republic of Karelia Valentina Lapichkova, specialists of libraries of the republic and municipalities.
