December 6, 2018:
The meeting dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the club Kraeved (Local historian) was held. Members of the club and partners gathered together in the library: representatives of the Karelian Research Center, Petrozavodsk State University, the National Archive, museums and representatives of public organizations.
07/12/2018. Andrei Raff at the National Library of Karelia
December 6, 2018:
The National Library of Karelia held a creative meeting with Andrei Raff, the author and translator of children's poems, the winner of the national award "Poet of the Year" in the category "Children's Literature", the creator of children's poetry theater "Green Hat". The clients of the National Library of Karelia know Andrei Raff very well. Most recently, he was the main guest of the program “I want to know everything!” prepared for the start of a new school year. After all, who, if not Andrei Raff, knows how to please the young fidgets, to carry them along to the wonderful world of children's literature.
05/12/2018. The book Sampo. The Runes of Pohjola has been given to the library
The National Library of Karelia received a gift edition, which is of particular importance to the republic and its inhabitants: the first edition of the Karelian heroic epic poem in Karelian language, its name is Sampo. The Runes of Pohjola.
Earlier, the Karelian epic poem was known only as the author's poem Kalevala by Elias Lönnrot, written in Finnish and based on Karelian folk epic songs. The poem was prepared by the public organization National Center of Finno-Ugric Cultures.

The professionals of the National Library of Karelia took part in VII International Cultural Forum. The National Library of Karelia presented one of its numerous programs. An interactive educational program In the Land of the Mysterious Sampo was an exciting creative event for the participants of the conference Regional Programs for the Implementation of the Concept for the Development of Children's and Youth Reading in Russia. The conference was held at the Central Children's Library named after A. S. Pushkin.
26/10/2018. Opening of the exhibition Praise to the Children's Book
October 27, 2018:
In the frameworks of the cultural program The Days of Sweden in Petrozavodsk, the National Library of Karelia opened an exhibition Praise to the Children's Book. Mårten Frankby, the Consul Responsible for issues concerning Sweden culture and economic cooperation, opened the exhibition prepared by the Swedish Academy for Children's Books. He noted the high importance of Swedish literature in Russia and invited everyone to get acquainted with the exhibition and the authors of Swedish children's literature.
23/10/2018. 2018 is the year of the 185th anniversary of the National Library of the Republic of Karelia
The solemn events dedicated to the anniversary began on the 14th of October, when a commemorative plaque to I. M. Petrov, the Head of the State Public Library of the Karelian ASSR (1959-1983), was opened. The XII Interregional Scientific and Practical Conference Library Space. Reader. Time organized by the Library Association of Karelia was attended by more than 140 professionals of federal, regional, republican, municipal, school libraries and public organizations. M. D. Afanasyev, the President of the Russian Library Association, became the guest of honor at the conference. On the 15th of October, a solemn meeting dedicated to the 185th anniversary of the National Library of Karelia was held. The Head of Karelia Artur Parfenchikov congratulated the library on the anniversary date.
03/10/2018. The XIX Russian-Finnish Cultural Forum was opened in the city of Savonlinna
The Head of the National Library of Karelia Marina Nikishina takes part in the XIX Russian-Finnish Cultural Forum which was opened on the 27th of September in Savonlinna, Finland. The Forum topic is Formation of Cultural and Tourist Product and Sustainable Tourism.
For nearly two decades, cultural figures from various regions of Finland and Russia have come to the annual large-scale meeting to discuss their own projects directly with partners. The Russian-Finnish Cultural Forum, established by the Ministry of Culture of Russia and the Ministry of Education of Finland, has been held annually since 2000. Russian-Finnish cultural forums represent a unique form of wide and direct cooperation between representatives of the culture filed of two countries.
