10/04/2021. Kalevala on the Theater Stage
The 9th of April is the birthday of Elias Lönnrot (1802-1884), a Finnish scientist, folklorist, who made runes used among the people world famous on the pages of the Karelian and Finnish epic poem Kalevala.
On the 9th of April, the traditional Kalevala Marathon ends. This day, the National Library of Karelia presents a brief overview of bright performances on stages of the leading theatres of Petrozavodsk since 1935 up to the present day.

In 2021, the All-Russian project "Live Classics” turns 10 years. For a whole decade, the competition for young readers has contributed to an increase in the interest of schoolchildren in reading fiction literature, finding and supporting children gifted in the field of theatrical art and public speaking.

March 26, 2021:
The National Library of the Republic of Karelia held an annual meeting of directors of public municipal libraries of Karelia "Biblioregion-10" in the format of videoconference. The event was conducted with the support and participation of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Karelia and the Library Association of Karelia. The theme of the meeting was ”The Role of Central Municipal Libraries of the Republic of Karelia in the Implementation of the Culture National Project”.

The XXI contest and the exhibition The Book of the Year of the Republic of Karelia has started.The contest is held among the book publishers and typographers of the republic. 68 books will compete for the title "The Best Book of the Year of the Republic of Karelia".
