14/10/2023. Solemn ceremony dedicated to the 190th anniversary of the National Library of Karelia

A solemn meeting dedicated to the 190th anniversary of the National Library of the Republic of Karelia took place. Representatives of the executive branch, heads of cultural institutions and partners from other regions of Russia came to congratulate the staff of the largest library in Karelia.
A film dedicated to the history, present day and future projects of the National Library of Karelia was created especially for this event. Warm words, flowers and gifts were received by Marina Nikishina, Head of the library.
The solemn meeting of the library's friends was opened by Alexander Onkin, soloist of the Karelian State Philharmonic, Honored Artist of Karelia, with compositions by Chopin, Schumann and Liszt.
For high professionalism, many years of conscientious work and great contribution to the development of library science, Larisa Podsadnik, Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Karelia for Social Affairs, presented the library staff with certificates of honour and letters of gratitude, and memorial signs of the Honoured Cultural Worker of Karelia.
Congratulations and best wishes were addressed to the staff of the National Library of Karelia by: Elissan Shandalovich, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Republic of Karelia; Nadezhda Dreyzis, Chairman of the Petrozavodsk City Council; Alexey Lesonen, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Karelia; Sergey Kiselyov, Minister of National and Regional Policy of the Republic of Karelia; Natalya Volkova, Deputy Minister of Education and Sports of the Republic of Karelia; Priest Viktor Zarovnyaev, Head of the Diocesan Missionary Department of the Petrozavodsk and Karelian Diocese.
Our partners from Chelyabinsk and St. Petersburg came to the anniversary of the National Library of Karelia. Natalya Diskaya, Member of the Russian Library Association, Director of the Chelyabinsk Regional Library, delivered a welcoming speech to the audience.
Our good friends, colleagues and partners – directors of cultural institutions of Karelia and members of the Library Association of Karelia – came to congratulate the National Library. All speakers noted the special role of the National Library in the life of society and shared their own memories of visiting the library in different years. Many warm words and wishes were said at the anniversary evening, and congratulatory telegrams and letters of welcome from colleagues from regional libraries in Russia were also read out.
The future of every library is its young employees. For the audience, the youth of the National Library prepared a short video surprise named The Library of the 21st Century.
Marina Nikishina, Head of the National Library of Karelia, thanked everyone for their kind words, gifts, and most importantly, for the help and cooperation with reliable partners.
