13/12/2024. Calendar of Significant Dates in Karelia
The website of the National Library of the Republic of Karelia has published the Calendar of Significant Dates in Karelia 2025, which has been published by the library annually since 1970.
The calendar presents information about anniversary and significant events of Karelia, organizations, people. Of interest are the articles published in the edition and written by famous Karelian scientists, local historians, specialists in various fields of knowledge.
In the calendar, you can read articles dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the opening of the Musical Theatre of the Republic of Karelia, the 55th anniversary of the opening of the Petrozavodsk City V. Danilov Children's Library, the 25th anniversary of the organization of the Petrozavodsk publishing house Scandinavia, the 15th anniversary of the Karelian regional public organization Mari of Karelia.
The publication presents the names of people who contributed to the development of the Karelian region: the director of Kondopoga Pulp and Paper Mill, Hero of Socialist Labour Viktor Kholopov, radiologist, Deputy Chief Physician of the Republican V. A. Baranov Hospital Gai Ioffe, organizer of the Faculty of Preschool Education of the Karelian State Pedagogical Institute Vladimir Georgievskiy, People's Writer of Karelia Marat Tarasov, skier, Olympic champion Fyodor Terentyev.
Of particular value are articles previously unpublished in literary sources and dedicated to the lives and work of architects who created the appearance of the city of Petrozavodsk and other settlements in Karelia - Maxim Uspensky, Vyacheslav Bugashev and Lyubov Khromina (Alekseeva).
The National Library of Karelia thanks the regular authors of the articles in the recommended literature index: local historian Tatyana Moshina, methodologist of the Karelian Institute for Education Development Vasily Kondratyev, researchers at the Institute of Language, Literature and History of the Karelian Scientific Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences Lyudmila Vavulinskaya and Natalya Chikina, and architect Elena Itsikson.
