The XXI contest and the exhibition The Book of the Year of the Republic of Karelia has started.The contest is held among the book publishers and typographers of the republic. 68 books will compete for the title "The Best Book of the Year of the Republic of Karelia".

Karelian runes are the most valuable genre of folk art in Karelia. Epic songs originate in ancient times, they existed among the people of Karelia for centuries and reflected their spiritual and material culture.

The National Library of Karelia held the XV scientific conference Local Studies Days 2021. The theme of the conference was Karelia in the Word, Text, Image.
Permanent organizers of the conference: the National Library of Karelia, the Institute of Language, Literature and History of the Karelian Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
16/02/2021. The results of the 5th Russian Campaign Give Books with Love 2021
February 14, 2021:
On the International Book Giving Day, the 5th Russian Campaign Give Books with Love, which took place from the 8th to the 14th of February, has ended. These days, at the site of the National Library of Karelia, a collection of books for rural libraries of municipal districts of the republic was organized.
05/02/2021. New editions added to the collection of the National Library
The National Library got books, published with the financial support of the Ministry of National and Regional Policy of the Republic of Karelia within the framework of projects of the Karelia - Finland Friendship Society implemented in 2020.
Books dedicated to the musical culture of Karelia and the peoples living on the territory of Ingermanland were given by the publisher Elena Barbashina.

In the Republic of Karelia, there will appear two more model libraries within the framework of the national project “Culture”. One of them will be established on the basis of the Kotkozero Village Library (the Olonets Centralized Library System), and another on the basis of the Värtsilä City Library (the Sortavala District Library).
