Specialists of the National Library of Karelia visited the Central Library of the Belomorsk District on a work trip.
In Belomorsk, the Cultural Environment federal project is being implemented to create a new generation library as a part of the Culture national project. Natalya Shchurikhina, Director of the library, spoke in detail about the main stages of the project. To date, the current repair of the library premises has been completed, lighting has been replaced, specialized furniture and computer equipment has been purchased, and more than 2 thousand copies of new books have been ordered. The decoration of the renovated space of the library, based on the local identity of the territory–- images of the White Sea petroglyphs, is nearing completion.
Tatyana Rudyk, Leading Librarian of the Department of Storage of Library Funds, exchanged experience with colleagues of the Belomorsk Central Library on the issues of ensuring the safety of documents, as well as comfortable for readers, and at the same time correct placement of the library collections. With Olga Viduta, Head of the Information and Reference Department, the librarians considered additional opportunities and resources that the library will have after the opening of the Remote Access Center of the B. N. Yeltsin Presidential Library.
The discussion of interlibrary cooperation took place with Irina Germanova, Deputy Director of the National Library and President of the Library Association of the Republic of Karelia.
The grand opening of the renovated Central Library of the Belomorsk District will take place on October 2, 2023.
