13/07/2023. People's Artist of Russia Ilze Liepa visited the National Library of Karelia
July 13, 2023:
The guests of the National Library of Karelia were Ilze Liepa, People's Artist of Russia and a representative of the famous ballet dynasty, and her daughter Nadezhda. The works by Ilza Liepa as a ballerina and as a dramatic actress were awarded with numerous titles: the laureate of the State Prize of Russia, the laureate of the Golden Mask, National Theatre Prize as well as The Soul of Dance, The Crystal Turandot and The Seagull Awards, the Prize of the Moscow Government in the field of Literature and Art.
During a tour to the National Library of Karelia, Ilze Liepa learned about the work of each department and saw all the modern technical library innovations for readers’ serving – a book return terminal, a book reservation system and a document delivery system.
Ilze Liepa noted that none of the previous generations of readers of the National Library could even imagine that it would be possible to come to the library day and night to take books home and return them. With great interest, the guests of the library examined rare books dedicated to theatre and ballet.
Ilze Liepa herself has experience as a writer. She is the author of the books Theatrical Tales, The Universe of Russian Ballet, My Ballet. All these works can be borrowed from the National Library of Karelia; they tell more about the history of Russian and world ballet and theatre.
On July 14, Ilze Liepa will be a special guest and a host of the Ruskeala Symphony Musical Festival. On this day, familiar melodies from musicals and rock operas by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Alexei Rybnikov and the ABBA group will sound in the Italian quarry of the Ruskeala Mountain Park.
