June 6, 2023:
The National Library of Karelia invited everyone to celebrate Pushkin Day of Russia.
The festive day began in the conference hall of the National Library of Karelia.
Young students of Lidiya Pobedinskaya's Poetry Recitation School showed a creative program dedicated to the lyceum friends of the great poet.
According to a tradition, on Pushkin Day an event Flowers to the Poet was held. That day, lovers of poet's masterpieces, among whom there were people of different ages and professions – adults and children, students and schoolchildren – gathered together at Alexander Pushkin’s monument.
Elena Pietilyainen, Editor-in-Chief of the Sever magazine, Chairman of the Karelian Regional Branch of the Writers' Union of Russia, read her poems about Pushkin. Writer and poet Pavel Sysoev, poet Yuri Tikhomirov, the oldest reader of the National Library of Karelia Vladimir Aidynyan, students of Lidiya Pobedinskaya's Poetry Recitation School, students of Pushkin School No. 10 and students of Lomonosov Gymnasium read poems at the meeting. A surprise for the guests of the holiday was the Learned Cat, who read out an excerpt from the poem Ruslan and Lyudmila.
On this day, young admirers of A. S. Pushkin went to the sector of rare books and got acquainted with the rare editions of Pushkin Collection of the National Library of Karelia. After laying flowers at the monument to the great poet, the participants in the action visited two sites at once. Within the framework of the “Russian Museum. Virtual Branch” project we together read Eugene Onegin and talked not only about the verbal portraits of the heroes of the great novel, but also discussed how painters of different years imagined the characters and the plot.
The harmony of Pushkin's texts is understandable to many without translation. Is Pushkin's word capable of retaining all its charm and meaning when translated into other languages? This issue was discussed on June 6 on another program “Translate Pushkin: Mission Impossible?” The theme was the existing translations of the works by A. S. Pushkin and the translation process.
For those who could not celebrate the birthday of the great classic with us, two virtual programs started working on the website of the National Library of Karelia in the morning.
It turns out that in long-familiar fairy tales there are secrets that many of us had not noticed before! At the video lesson on the tactile book There Is A Green Oak-Tree By The Lukomorye, not only children, but also their parents learned what Lukomorye is, who is the Learned Cat, and what does the Mermaid do on the tree?
For lovers of the history of Petrozavodsk, we offered to take a virtual walk along Pushkinskaya Street, one of the oldest streets in Petrozavodsk. The modern development of the street began after the Great Patriotic War. At that time, the buildings of the House of Physical Culture, the Public Library, the Karelian State Pedagogical Institute, and the Karelian Scientific Center appeared. You will learn about the history of the street, as well as what or whom the name of the street is associated with.
