01/06/2023. Summer, Children, Books Festival at the National Library of Karelia
June 1, 2023:
On the International Children's Day, the National Library of Karelia hosted the Summer, Children, Books Festival. Employees of the Center for Children's Reading prepared a book exhibition, a game, creative programs, a meeting with a writer, and a playground for children of different ages. The festive summer day began with smiles and interesting literary adventures.
Children's writer Nadezhda Zvyagintseva, who writes under the pseudonym Anna Tilles, presented her new book Tales of the Karelian Hut.
The author shared with the young participants in the meeting the secrets of professional skills, the history of her first book Advice from Mother Ikhuola, as well as the book Tales of the Karelian Hut. Nadezhda Zvyagintseva spoke about the traditions of making amulet dolls by women of the northern lands, about national cuisine, household items, jewelry, and the occupations of ancient Karelians.
The heroes of the Tales of the Karelian Hut “came” to visit the children: the mermaid Impi, the Blacksmith’s Wife, the Woman with an amulet doll. Both children and adults with interest solved the intricate Karelian riddles, explained the meanings of the names of treats and items needed in everyday life, and also looked at the amazing watercolor book illustrations made by an artist Marina Gorshkova. All participants in the meeting wished the author further success in her work! Books by Anna Tilles from the collections of the National Library of Karelia can be ordered from the electronic catalogue at the link.
On the first day of summer – on a trip along the Ecological Path!
Summer is a wonderful time, a time of adventure, travel and new discoveries. It is not surprising that on the first day of summer, armed with route sheets, tips and, most importantly, in a good mood, the teenagers set off on a journey along the Ecological Path at the National Library of Karelia.
At each station, travellers were waiting for interesting tasks related to the topic of ecology: for knowledge, for logic, for erudition and ingenuity, and even for dexterity! The children successfully sorted out "waste", figured out the symbols of environmental labelling, remembered "wet" phraseological units and literary works made with the help of emoji symbols, deciphered aphorisms about nature.
Books on an ecological theme from the collection of the National Library of Karelia can be ordered at a link. Books by the author can also be bought at the Book Stall of the library.
On the first day of vacation, the librarians of the Center for Children's Reading prepared a book exhibition of new books for young readers, where everyone could plunge into the ocean of interesting adventures, magical transformations, fantastic events and vivid illustrations. Employees shared recommendations for books and helped readers choose the right book.
In the Winter Garden, a game zone FightUm was organized for fans of board games, where everyone could find a modern and exciting game for themselves.
