May 5, 2023:
The National Library of Karelia and Kizhi State Open-Air Museum of History, Architecture and Ethnography held a joint event dedicated to the 95th anniversary of Alexey Avdyshev (1928-1997), poet and artist, Honored Art Worker of the Karelian ASSR, Honored Artist of the RSFSR.
That day, the library and the museum were united by the poetry and paintings by Alexey Avdyhev, his devoted love for native Zaonezhie and the island of Kizhi.
The visitors of the Kizhi Museum got acquainted with the museum exhibition, which presented engravings by A. Avdyshev dedicated to the Kizhi architectural ensemble.
Then a literary and artistic meeting took place. At the meeting, the participants spoke about the life and work of Alexey Avdyshev and listened poetic and musical works. The audience saw photographs from the collections of the National Library and the National Archives of Karelia, the poet's family album, documentary videos and television programs.
Elena Avdysheva, poet’s daughter, shared poems in memory of him and presented to all viewers a book of her lyrics Ot pechali do radosti (Eng. From Sorrow to Joy), dedicated to Alexey Avdyshev. Nadezhda Avdysheva, widow of the poet, and Elena Markova, researcher of Aleksey Avdyshev’s work, Doctor of Philology, Honored Scientist of the Republic of Karelia, recalled the poet and the peculiarities of his work. The meeting ended with a walk to the house where the artist and poet A. Avdyshev had lived for many years, and where a memorial plaque to his memory is located.
The joint event of this kind took place for the first time; it aroused a great interest among the audience. We hope that this will be a good start to the joint work of the library and the museum in the field of education and preservation of the memory of writers and storytellers of Karelia.
