02/05/2023. The awarding ceremony of the competition "The Book of the Year of the Republic of Karelia 2022"

The National Library of Karelia held the awarding ceremony of the XXIII competition ”The Book of the Year of the Republic of Karelia 2022”.
The ceremony was attended by the representatives of the founders and organizers of the competition, members of expert groups, publishers and authors, distributors of book products and lovers of reading.
From the 1st of February till the 5th of March, a collection of applications was organized. The competition received 104 applications, and 50 books competed for the title of "Book of the Year of the Republic of Karelia".
Along with the competition, the exhibition "The Book of the Year" was opened, and everyone could be acquainted with the publications received by the Book Chamber of the Republic of Karelia during the past 2022.
From March 13 to March 26, expert commissions worked to determine the winners of the following categories:

Science Light
Read and Re-read
My Land and Its’ People
At the ceremony, the winners in 6 categories were awarded with diplomas and prizes.
The Legislative Assembly of the Republic of Karelia, the Administration of the Petrozavodsk City District, the Tourist Information Center of the Republic of Karelia, Book Lovers Society and the Library Association of the Republic of Karelia awarded special diplomas and prizes to a number of publishers and authors.
The National Library gave the prize "Readers' Choice" according to the voting results of the virtual and real book exhibition.
Since 2022, the prize became the Kantele Book, which was the symbol of the library capital of Russia in 2020 and 2021.
