30/04/2023. To the Year of Teacher and Mentor
April 30, 2023:
The educational game marathon Reading the Teachers prepared by the National Library of Karelia to the Year of Teacher and Mentor has ended. In the beginning of May, at the end of the cycle of events of the marathon, the results were summed up, and the National Library of Karelia received a lot of grateful feedback from the participants and coordinators of the marathon.
The aim of the marathon was to draw attention to wonderful literary works of domestic teachers, the history of Russian education, books about the school, and to teach children and youth to respect teacher’s profession and work.
On the basis of the book collection of the National Library of Karelia, three educational quizzes were created in the format of the TV show Jeopardy for participants of different ages. Any librarian or teacher who registered on the site as a coordinator of the marathon and wished to conduct games for their students or readers could receive quizzes on their e-mail.
The marathon had a very wide geographical coverage: from Sakhalin to Crimea, from Khanty-Mansiysk to Arkhangelsk, from Khakassia to Murmansk. Most coordinators (36%) live in the North-Western Federal District, Volga (24%) and Central (12%) Districts. Four coordinators from the DPR and one from the LPR have registered for participation, and there was one foreign coordinator from the city of Gomel (Republic of Belarus).
Of course, the most permanent and active participants in the activities of the National Library of Karelia are residents of Karelia, librarians of both rural and municipal libraries. The quizzes were successfully held in Shuya (librarian M. Geroyeva), Chalna (librarian J. Verolaynen), Shuiskaya (librarian O. Yudina) and other libraries of Karelia. Among active players, there were schools in Olonets, Kostomuksha, Petrozavodsk and Loukhi. Most (59%) of the Reading the Teachers marathon coordinators are rural residents.
712 people registered as coordinators of the marathon. 41% of coordinators work as librarians, 22% as teacher-librarians in educational institutions, 26% as teachers. Among the remaining 11% there are teachers of secondary and higher educational institutions, employees of clubs and institutions of additional education. All participants received certificates in electronic form.
The author and coordinator of the marathon is Kseniya Mikhailova, Lead Librarian of the Department of Library Services of the National Library of Karelia. We invite you to read more about the results of the educational game marathon on the site Finno-Ugric Libraries of Russia (in Russian).
