At the National Library of Karelia, the XVI scientific conference Local Studies Days has ended.
The organizers of the conference: the National Library of Karelia, the Institute of Language, Literature and History of the Karelian Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
This year, the main theme of the reports was «Book Culture and Oral Tradition in Karelia».
Among the speakers, there were leading experts in their field: scientists, teachers, specialists of museums, archives and libraries, as well as young researchers: students and graduate students of educational institutions, local historians of the city and the republic.
The combination of academic scientific reports and information about practical research in the field of local studies contributes to the unification and enrichment of the local history movement in the republic.
The Local Studies Days opened the year of 100th anniversary of the oldest department of the National Library of Karelia, the Department of National and Local Literature and Bibliography. That is why the main one can be called the section «History of Book and Library Field in Karelia».
The year 2021 was declared the Year of Cultural Heritage of Peoples of Russia, and this topic united the reports of all the sections that took place: «Local History Studies», «Historical Source in Local History Research», «Ethnocultural Landscape of Karelia», «Local Studies and Local Historians».
At the final meeting, A. V. Pigin and N. M. Balatskaya made their reports and the National Library of Karelia and the Institute of Language, Literature and History of the Karelian Scientific Center presented their new books.
This year, there was physical and virtual participation in the meetings. For everyone, a live broadcast of the conference was organized. Almost every report caused a lively discussion and exchange of views between the audience on the premises of the National Library of Karelia, as well as listeners and speakers who took part using the ZOOM platform. The participants noted the high quality of technical support for the scientific conference. The participants in the conference and the heads of the sections noted the successful preparation of the program, within the framework of which active discussions on the announced topics took place.
The reports will be published in an electronic form (with the consent of the author). The materials of previous conferences are published on the website of the National Library of Karelia. Local Studies Days’ participants gave new books to the collection of the National Library of Karelia.
