03/07/2025. Walking in Paris with Victor Hugo
On July 3 readers of the National Library of Karelia made a literary trip to Paris.
The audience was offered addresses of the French capital related to the life and work of the great poet and novelist Victor Hugo. Readers learned about the writer's House-Museum, where he once lived, saw the building of the French Comedy, where the first performance of the play "Ernani" took place, "visited" the magnificent church of Saint-Sulpice, where in 1822 Victor Hugo married his childhood friend Adele Fouche.
During the virtual walk readers discovered the locations of the writer's iconic works "Notre Dame de Paris" and "Les Miserables." Excerpts from their novels describing the historical sights of Paris were read at the meeting.
At the end of the literary Thursday, readers turned to publications dedicated to the biography of Victor Hugo, the history of Paris and travel guides to the French capital.
