As a part of the program of The Days of the Alexandrinsky Theater, the National Library of Karelia held a creative meeting with actors of the Alexandrinsky Theater Pyotr Semak and Vladimir Koshevoy.
Pyotr Semak, People's Artist of Russia, laureate of the State Prizes of the USSR and Russia, is the leading artist of the Alexandrinsky Theater and one of the brightest representatives of Lev Dodin's school. Pyotr Semak graduated from the Leningrad State Institute of Theatre, Music and Cinematography in 1983 (class of Arkady Katsman and Lev Dodin). Pyotr Semak devoted more than 30 years to the work on the stage of the Maly Drama Theater – the Theater of Europe. He was accepted into the troupe of the Alexandrinsky Theater in February 2015 as a mature and experienced master. He immediately took one of the central places in the troupe. In the current repertoire of the theater, he is acting in performances: “One Eight Eight One” as Loris-Melikov, “The Birth of Stalin” as Stalin, “Masquerade. Memories of the Future" in the role of Evgeny Arbenin and others. Besides, in addition to work in the theater, the actor has several dozen film roles.
At the meeting, Pyotr Semak told about working on roles, experience of working with different directors, and also performed a fragment from his solo performance “Classics in Profile”. The solo performance is an appeal to small prose – the stories by Chekhov, Zoshchenko and Babel.
Theater and film actor Vladimir Koshevoy became widely known after the film adaptation of the novel by F. M. Dostoevsky "Crime and Punishment" (director – D. Svetozarov, 2007), where he played the role of Rodion Raskolnikov. Today in the creative biography of the artist, there is a whole gallery of psychological roles played on stage and in cinema and based on real, historical biographies – Vrubel, Felix Yusupov, Gumilyov, Khlebnikov, more than 80 works in total.
At the meeting, Vladimir Koshevoy spoke about the peculiarities of working in the theater and cinema, shared examples from his own creative biography, and answered questions from the audience.
