02/12/2025. To the 100th anniversary of Genrikh Altshuller: the National Library of Karelia begins preparations for anniversary events
In 2026, Genrikh Altshuller (1926–1998) turns 100 years. Altshuller was an outstanding Soviet engineer, science fiction writer, and inventor of the Theory of Inventive Problem Solving (in Russian TRIZ), which has received worldwide recognition.
Genrikh Altshuller made an invaluable contribution to the development of creative and engineering thinking methodologies. His TRIZ theory has become a fundamental system used today in engineering, business, education, and scientific research worldwide. In addition to his scientific work, Altshuller is known as the author of science fiction, published under the pen name Genrikh Altov.
In October 2025, the National Library of Karelia officially joined The International G. S. Altshuller Year project. During the next year, the library will held webinars dedicated to the use of TRIZ in different fields (from business to cosmology). As part of the anniversary events, a virtual excursion Altshuller’s Petrozavodsk will be created. One of the key events will become seminar The Potential for the TRIZ Creation in Karelia, which will take place in Petrozavodsk in June 2026. In September, an educational program will be held for everyone as part of the Local History Wednesday project. One of the highlights of the year will be a scientific conference dedicated to the legacy of Genrikh Altshuller, which will take place in October 2026 on the premises the National Library of the Republic of Karelia.
In early 2026, the National Library of Karelia will open a book exhibition dedicated to Genrikh Altshuller.
The program of anniversary events will be updated and refined. The National Library of the Republic of Karelia will announce the exact dates and formats of the events on its website and official social media.
