February 7, 2024:
In public libraries of eight districts of Karelia, simultaneously from 12:30 to 13:30, the action Let’s Read Together, Let’s Read Aloud! took place. More than three hundred active readers took part in the event.
Let’s Read Together, Let’s Read Aloud! is a significant event in the life of libraries in the city of Petrozavodsk and the districts of the Republic of Karelia. The event takes place annually and is timed to coincide with World Read Aloud Day, which is celebrated on the first Wednesday of February. The goal of the event is to introduce people to book culture and promote reading the best examples of children's classic literature.
According to a tradition, every year the works of one of the authors whose anniversary is celebrated that year are chosen as a common theme for reading aloud. In 2024, the event is dedicated to the 130th anniversary of a famous writer and nature expert Vitaly Bianki.
Students from gymnasium no. 30 of Petrozavodsk visited the conference hall of the National Library. We were joined online by active readers from Kondopoga, Sortavala and Loukhi. Participants in the event expressively read aloud their favorite works by Vitaly Bianki, took part in a literary game, dramatization of stories and a cheerful “squirrel” flash mob. The event participants got acquainted with a book exhibition of works dedicated to the writer’s anniversary.
While reading aloud the works by Vitaly Bianki, the children could show their creative abilities and, of course, both the readers and the listeners had a great pleasure.
