The White Chamomile Event dedicated to World Tuberculosis Day was held in the National Library of Karelia.
Students of the Petrozavodsk Medical College in ancient suits of nurses welcomed visitors and shared chamomiles that are the symbol of the fight against tuberculosis. They told about the history of the charity event and helped to navigate the library. Young people and the elderly participated with pleasure in a workshop organized by nurses.
Specialists of the Tuberculosis Dispensary of the Republic of Karelia distributed materials – brochures and leaflets – at an information desk. So they did the same things that were done by the organizers of such charitable actions in the beginning of the last century. The guests have received advice from medical specialists: TB doctor, psychologist, pulmonary specialist and a specialist of the Center for Health of the Petrozavodsk Children Hospital. Throughout the day participants of the event could visit the video lection hall dedicated to prevention of tuberculosis.
The book exhibitions "Respiratory diseases", "Tuberculosis is curable", " Healthy Lifestyle”, "White Flower Day", "The White Chamomile Event in old posters and photos” were opened in the library. Videos on the monitors presented the history of the White chamomile Event.
The event was attended by students of the cadet class, the Maritime College, the Forestry Engineering College, the Railway College and the Pedagogical College. There were more than 150 people among the participants of the event.
The event took place through the joint efforts of the National Library of Karelia, the Tuberculosis Dispensary of the Republic of Karelia, the Centre for Medical Prevention of Karelia and the Petrozavodsk Medical College.
