21/07/2024. The Peter the Great’s era on commemorative coins of the Bank of Russia: exhibition in the National Library
The National Library of Karelia opened an exhibition dedicated to the reformist ruler Peter the Great. The exhibition tells about the history of the creation of the Russian fleet, the great victories of Russian arms, the construction of new cities, as well as the monetary reform and educational reform of the 18th century.
Peter the Great was a big reformer, and the scale of what he has done for the country is truly astounding. Many of the reforms of the Peter the Great’s era are reflected in the commemorative coins of the Bank of Russia. No other famous person in Russia has received such attention from medal artists. Each of the coins is a tribute to the deeds of the ruler who changed the course of national history. The reforms launched by Peter the Great affected many areas of life: from state policy to the smallest details of everyday life.
The exhibition, which can be visited at the large reading room during library working hours until August 29, is supplemented by publications from the collection of the National Library of the Republic of Karelia.
