At the conference hall, the National Library of Karelia held a round table discussion WRITER-LIBRARY-READER.
The meeting was held in the framework of the festival Petroglyph which is organized annually by the autonomous non-profit organization on support and implementation of cultural and educational projects Petroglyph. The guests of the round table discussion were the Head of Moscow A. P. Chekhov Library Elena Pahomova and graphic designer Yakov Krasnovski, the art director of the design bureau "Barry & Brom", a laureate of the international competition Image of the Book (2017) in the category The Best Book Design.
Elena Pahomova told about formation of a positive library image using project activities that are of two directions at the Chekhov Library. The first direction is organization of competitions of student's works connected with book design, and the second is numerous publishing projects of the library, which are implemented at the expense of borrowed funds.
Last years, the Chekhov Library organized student competitions of illustrations for the books by A. P. Chekhov, A. Platonov, a contest of art objects on the works of contemporary Russian authors, a schoolchildren competition of illustrations for school classics, exhibitions of students' competitive works on the premises of the library and in Russian cities.
Since 1990s, the library has been digitizing a unique video archive of meetings with famous Russian writers and also keeping rare editions of modern writers published with small circulations of 100-500 copies that are going to be digitized.
Designer Yakov Krasnovski told about cooperation with Chekhov Library and Russian State Library for Young Adults and about publishing projects. These are an anniversary collection 70 years of the Chekhov Library. History. Traditions. Creativity, a booklet about Russian State Library for Young Adults and other editions, where he acted as a graphic designer of the book.
The Head of the Department of National and Local Literature of the National Library of Karelia Aleksandr Larionov told to the participants of the round table discussion about library projects aiming at popularization of works by Karelian writers and poets.
The round table discussion was attended by the Head of the Petroglyph organization, Karelian writer Vladimir Sofienko, he told about the goals and objectives of the annual literary festival Petroglyph. Participants of the round table: writers and library workers took an active part in discussion about library and writer cooperation and mutual expectations and plans for the development of this activity.
