19/02/2018. Results of the XII Scientific Conference Local Studies Days
The National Library of the Republic of Karelia held the XII annual Scientific Conference Local Studies Days on the theme The history of Law Enforcement and Security in Karelia: from the Beginnings to the Present. The conference united professional and amateur researchers who study local history.
At plenary meetings reports were made by specialist of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Aleksandr Fedosov, architect Elena Itsikson, Associate Professor of Petrozavodsk State University Irina Takala, researchers of Institute of Language, Literature and History Olga Ilyukha and Maksim Pulkin.
During two days six sections took place:
- The history of Law Enforcement and Security in Karelia: from the Beginnings to the Beginning of the Century
- Law Enforcement and Everyday Life
- Law Enforcement and Everyday Life during Wartime
- Culture as a Factor of Harmonious Development of Society
- Education and Enlightenment as an Instrument for the Stabilization of Society
- Social history
A total of about 60 reports and presentations on various themes were presented to the conference participants.
Despite the narrow, at first glance, topics of the conference, it was attended by specialists from different institutions of the republic: researchers of Institute of Language, Literature and History of Karelian Research Centre of RAS, teachers and students of Petrozavodsk State University, researchers of the National Archive and the National Museum, workers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Participants of the conference noted a high level of reports that aroused great interest among listeners.
