08/06/2018. Pushkin’s Day of Russia at the National Library of Karelia
June 6, 2018:
The National Library of Karelia celebrated the Pushkin’s Day of Russia and the Russian Language Day.
The holiday coincided with the last school day for many Petrozavodsk students, who became the main guests of this holiday. The literary and musical program of Pushkin's day began with the action Flowers to Pushkin.
The program was opened by the Chairman of the Karelian regional department of the Writers’ Union of Russia, the Secretary of the Board of the Writers’ Union of Russia, the Chief Editor of Sever Magazine and poet Elena Pietilyainen. The students of the Pushkin gymnasium #10 of Petrozavodsk and members of the School of Artistic Expression of Lidiya Pobedinskaya continued the program.
After the campaign Flowers to Pushkin, the guests of the library separated and went to two forums: senior students and adults saw a play Pushkin of Pinega. All people present at the hall found themselves in 1937 in a reading house of the village of Pinega (Arkhangelsk Region). The residents of the village gathered together to commemorate the 100th year of the poet’s death… The screenplay by Jana Zhemoitelite based on a story by Boris Schergin was embodied into a live literary project by librarians and readers.
The youngest visitors participated in a program My Pushkin. At six forums, children tested their knowledge on the works of the great classic, learned how our ancestors had lived and spoken at Pushkin’s epoch and even got a lesson of classical oriental dance by the Shamahan Queen. Tomes of Pushkin’s era, colorful albums and publications of poems by the great classic created a historical atmosphere and helped to answer questions of contests and quizzes. Immediately after the literary program, it was time for creative ideas. Our young patrons took part in a drawing competition.
The holiday has not ended. According to the best traditions of the beginning of the XIX century, our guests visited Pushkin’s ball. And the host and steward of the ball was the hero of the occasion together with his wife. The specialists of the National Library of Karelia played the role of Alexander Pushkin and his wife Natalia Nikolaevna. They opened the ball with a literary and musical composition. Our guests witnessed an exquisite wreath of love, poetry, jealousy and passion. And all this was accompanied by the music of Sviridov and Scriabin.
