09/03/2023. Kalevala in Cinema
March 9, 2023:
At the National Library of Karelia, the cycle of meetings of the annual cultural festival Kalevala Mosaic 2023 continued. On this day, a video lecture Karelian and Finnish Epic Poem Kalevala in Cinema was held.
The palette of films based on the epic poem is diverse. Visitors saw excerpts from feature films, documentaries and animation films. Facts about the history of their creation, directors and actors who embodied the heroes of Kalevala on the screen were presented. Each film director and actor conveyed his personal vision of the epic poem and gave reason to think about the life moral lessons of the great book.
We draw the readers’ attention to a short video lecture Kalevala in Cinema, representing the view of the world's filmmakers on the images, heroes and the plot of the epic poem. The video was made in 2022 to the Kalevala Mosaic festival.
