29/08/2016. Cinema Night in the National Library of the Republic of Karelia
The National Library of the Republic of Karelia took part in the first Russian campaign Cinema Night and became one of the platforms of the event in Karelia.
Amateurs of the cinema who gathered together in the conference hall that night visited a photo exhiibition made of private collections and dedicated to the stars of the Soviet cinematography. Before the film exhibition everyone could leaf through the books presented at the exhibition which consisted of novells and stories, that had been used as a basis for the outstanding domestic films.
The central event of the evening was a sreening of the film The Lesson of Literature directed by Alexey Korenev. In 1968 the Soviet film director made a surprising and an ambitious for its time tragicomedy The Lesson of Literature based on a story A Day without Lies by Viktoria Tokareva. The participants of the Cinema Night get acquainted with this unique movie and compared the screen version with the literary text, discussed the main idea of the film and its topicality. They saw unforgettable actors' showcase (Evgeni Steblov, Evgeni Leonov, Andrey Mironov, Leonid Kuravlev and others) and learned about Hollywood directors whose films can be rightly considered a true remake of the Soviet film.
