30/06/2018. A round table discussion Children at a Public Library: New Forms of Promotion of Reading

In the framework of Cultural and Business Mission of Saint-Petersburg in Karelia, the National Library of Karelia held a round table discussion Children at a Public Library: New Forms of Promotion of Reading.
The round table discussion was attended by the Head of A. S. Pushkin Central City Children’s Library of Saint-Petersburg Julia Dementeva, the Head of the National Library of Karelia Marina Nikishina, the Scientific Secretary, the Executive Director of the Library Association of the Republic of Karelia Valentina Lapichkova, specialists of libraries of the republic and municipalities.
Marina Nikishina presented the renewed National Library of Karelia to the participants, and then the experience of work of public libraries with children was discussed. A great impression on the participants of the meeting was made by the story of J. Dementeva about the new large-scale corporate projects of St. Petersburg children's libraries implemented in 2018: an interactive travel exhibition "Following the Traces of Captain Grant", a show of soap bubbles "Moidodyr" dedicated to the 95th anniversary K. Chukovsky and others.
M. A. Lukina, the Head of the V. M. Danilov Children's City Library, S. A. Ganzurova, the Deputy Head of the Kondopoga B. E. Kravchenko Central District Library, N. G. Evstratova, the Head of the Olonets Children's Library shared with the participants of the round table the secrets of reading promotion among children, told about innovative forms of work and successful practices of working with children.
As a result of the round table, it can be concluded that libraries of Karelia, even with limited budget funding, conduct many interesting educational activities for children, dedicated to reading promotion, create conditions for their development and creative activities in libraries.
