10/06/2019. Pushkin Day at the National Library of Karelia

June 6, 2019: The annual Pushkin Day and the Day of the Russian Language took place in the National Library of Karelia. Traditionally, the holiday began with the event “Flowers to the Poet”, where, in honor of the 220th anniversary of Alexander Pushkin, sincere and warm words about the importance and relevance of his literary heritage were said. As proof of this, Pushkin's poems were performed by schoolchildren, students, writers and citizens of Petrozavodsk at the library square near the monument to the poet.

05/06/2019. The National Library of the Republic of Karelia has summed up the results of XII Summer School for Rural Librarians of the region

May 27–31, 2019: The National Library of the Republic of Karelia together with Karelian College of Culture and Arts with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Karelia, held XII Summer School for Rural Librarians of Karelia – the Republican summer seminar of rural librarians "Modern rural library". This year the theme was “Reference for renewal: actual directions of development of rural libraries in Karelia”.

21/05/2019. Petrozavodsk will become the Library Capital of Russia

May 16, 2019: In Tula, the Library Capital of Russia in 2019, the Russian Library Congress: the XXIV Annual Conference of the Russian Library Association completed its work.The final plenary session and the closing ceremony took place. The results of the election of vice-presidents and members of the Board of the Russian Library Association were announced, medals and certificates of honor of the Russian Library Association were presented, and young professionals from the region were dedicated to the profession. More than 400 reports were made at 43 venues.

April 23, 2019: The National Library of Karelia held the awarding ceremony of the XIX Contest “The Book of the Year 2018 of the Republic of Karelia”. The event was attended by representatives of the founders and organizers of the competition, members of the expert groups, publishers and authors, distributors of book production and reading lovers.

05/03/2019. Literary and Musical Evening Live Kalevala

February 28, 2019: On the International Day of Kalevala, the literary and musical evening Live Kalevala was held at the National Library of Karelia. The evening was dedicated to the rune-singers, whose heritage lies at the heart of the epic poem “Kalevala” by Elias Lönnrot and for centuries has been an inexhaustible source of inspiration for people of many creative professions. The participants of the evening could get acquainted with the folklore sources of Kalevala, hear archival authentic records of Karelian folklore, familiarize themselves with the creative heritage of Karelian narrators and see fragments of documentary newsreels created in different years.

04/03/2019. Programs for children on Kalevala Day

February 28, 2019: On the Kalevala Day, programs for children dedicated to the anniversary of the epos Kalevala were held at the National Library of Karelia. Young readers have become participants of the program “Wonderful Mill Sampo”. Pupils guessed difficult Karelian riddles, played folk games, recalled the heroes of the epic poem and got acquainted with the traditions of Karelia.

February 14, 2019: The National Library of the Republic of Karelia held the XIII annual Scientific Conference Local Studies Days on the theme “Book, reading, information: transformation in time”. The conference united professional and amateur researchers who study history, culture, printed and handwritten heritage of Karelia.
