14/04/2014. The 10th anniversary of the publishing house Ostrova
On the 20th of March 2014 in the National Library of Karelia an event dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the publishing house Ostrova was held. The publishing house Ostrova was founded in 2004 in Petrozavodsk.
The event was attended by employees of the publishing house, writers, artists, photographers, librarians and partners of the publishing house. Guests of the event were welcomed by the Culture Minister of the Republic of Karelia Elena Bogdanova. The chief editor and honored journalist Juri Shleikin and the director of the publishing house Aleksandr Kolomitsev introduced stuff of the publishing house, writers, artists and photographers.
In the library there was an exhibition where books published in the Ostrova in ten years were on display. These books have many times received prizes at contest The Book of the Year of Karelia.
Writers who have been cooperating with the Ostrova for many years have got literary awards for their books published by the publishing house. For example, Konstantin Gnetnev got an award Polyarnaya Zvezda (The Pole Star) of The Russian Union of Writers. Igor Vostryakov got the Sampo award. Myud Mechev was awarded a gold medal by the Russian Academy of Arts.
The publishing house publishes books on war, history, culture, books for children and fiction books. The Ostrova has many new plans and projects.
