17/02/2014. VIII Scientific Conference Local Studies Days
On the 13th and the 14th of February 2014 VIII Scientific Conference Local Studies Days devoted to the Year of Culture in Russia was held. The Conference was organized by the National Library of Karelia and the Institute for Language, Literature and History of RAS. Since 2007 the Conference has gathered together professionals, young researchers, scientists, specialists and postgraduates, regional ethnographers and people interested in development of history research in Karelia. There was an exhibition New Literature on Karelia.
At the plenary session reports devoted to history of Karelia were made by Elena Itsikson (“Pimenov’s house in Petrozavodsk is an architecture monument”), Liudmila Kapusta (“Celebration of the 300th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty in the Olonets governorate”) and Svetlana Filimonchik (“Social and economic reforms in Karelia. 1921-1939: regional experience in modernization”). The public was interested in reports, asked numerous questions and shared their opinions.
At the Conference there were section History, Culture and Library Science and Local Linguistics.
