23/08/2023. Two representatives from Karelia are among the winners of the Genius is You! contest

Two representatives from the Republic of Karelia were among the 100 winners of the Genius is You! contest, organized by the Ministry of Culture of Russia and the Russian State Library.
The contest was attended by 500 visitors and representatives of Russian libraries participating in the Genius of the Place project aged 18 and over. In the Republic of Karelia, the Genius of Place project is being implemented in the Sortavala District Library and the Central Library of the Kostomuksha City District. Ekaterina Maksimova (Sortavala) and Maria Menshikova (Kostomuksha) got the opportunity to study in the field of creative industries in the Website Design direction.
As applicants for participation in the training, women overcame three competitive stages. The first step was to submit an application and write a motivation letter. The participants who successfully passed this stage were admitted to the second stage – a creative competition. Those who passed the selection based on its results proceeded to the final, third stage, at which it was required to prepare a video presentation.
The organizers of the contest told, that according to the results of the training, the winners will acquire the necessary skills in popular professional areas, as well as work on their first creative projects. Thanks to this, their regions and territories will receive an additional impetus for development in the field of creative industries.
The Annual competition Genius is you! is held within the framework of the Genius of the Place project of the Invented in Russia federal project. The initiative is aimed at developing the creative skills of residents on the basis of creative laboratories created in libraries and preserving the cultural heritage of the country's territories.
In 2022, within the framework of this competition, a representative from the Sortavala District Library got training in the field of Brand Management.
