Specialists of the National Library of Karelia held an educational event for teachers of the primary school who lead the course The Land where I Live and hold events of a regional theme in extracurricular activities.
The teachers were presented with books from the collection of the National Library: local history publications for children, fairy tales and works by contemporary Karelian writers. The virtual resources of the library are available remotely: teachers were interested in the Teacher's Room Online, the Children's Corner of the Electronic Library of Authors of Karelia, the media platform of the Centre for Children's Reading, the valuable local history resource Names in the History of Karelia.
The educational programs Magical Karelia, Kalevala’s Birthday, Let's Save Fungus Weevils, or a Little about the Red Book of Karelia, which can be carried out by order of teachers and parents, will certainly arouse interest among primary school students and give a lot of new knowledge. The role of local history in the educational process at the present stage can hardly be overestimated, because the knowledge of the culture and history of the native land instills a love for the Motherland, a sense of belonging to the events of its past and present in a growing person's.
