Specialists of the National Library of Karelia together with schoolteachers of Petrozavodsk held a qualifying stage of the All-Russian Reading Aloud Championship Page'23. This day, high school students of Petrozavodsk came to Derzhavin lyceum to take part in a literary competition.
The rules of the competition are simple and democratic: the participants take turns reading aloud an unfamiliar text printed on a paper. The jury evaluates technique and artistry. Qualifying matches are held in schools and libraries, regional champions advance to the conference finals, and the winners of the conference finals meet in the Superfinal in Red Square.
The championship was attended by 44 students from all schools of Petrozavodsk. The contestants read texts of modern and classical Russian literature. The jury, which consisted of teachers and specialists of the National Library of Karelia, evaluated not only the reading technique, but also the acting skills of the participants. Despite the excitement and the difficult task of reading the text they saw for the first time without errors and with expression, most of the children showed a high level of literacy and acting skills. Video materials and the results of the qualifying round will be sent to Moscow to participate in the championship final.
