12/01/2023. In the Circle of Friends at the National Library of Karelia
January 12, 2023:
The National Library of Karelia invited its faithful friends and partners to the meeting In the Circle of Friends. For the sixth year in a row, on the eve of the "Old" New Year, the National Library of Karelia holds a meeting for those with whom we together make the life of our readers and guests brighter, more useful and eventful.
The library is the most democratic social institution that brings together people of various professions and interests. This winter evening, musicians and doctors, teachers and poets, scientists and public figures came to us.
Together we remembered the events of the past year, which turned out to be very eventful. In 2022, our most reputable readers, the Head of the Republic of Karelia, the Mayor of Petrozavodsk, writers and scientists, artists and musicians, found time in their busy schedules and took part in the All-Russian Book Power campaign. All of them told young readers about their first favourite and useful books, and at the same time shared the secrets of success!
The guests of the evening were greeted by Valentina Pivnenko, Deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Library of the Republic of Karelia, and Marina Nikishina, Head of the National Library of Karelia.
Thanks to the national project Culture, three model libraries were opened this year in Karelia in the village of Muyezersky, Kondopoga and Kalevala, and Olonets readers got access to the electronic reading room of Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library. Together with our partners, we opened new library routes. This year, a mobile library for residents of the Drevlyanka city district began its work, and our library project Fairytale Karelia set off on a journey around the cities of Russia as part of the Polycultural Cities project.
A special place in the holiday program was dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Robert Rozhdestvensky, one of the most famous poets of the Soviet era, whose name is closely associated with Karelia and Petrozavodsk. In 2022, a meeting with Ekaterina Rozhdestvenskaya, poet's daughter, took place at the National Library of Karelia.
Of course, together with our friends, we remembered the anniversaries of the past year: the 20th anniversary of the Library Association of the Republic of Karelia, the 5th anniversary of the Nicholas Roerich Centre and the 100th anniversary of the Department of National and Local Literature and Bibliography.
Everyone worked hard, and whoever works well rests well. The guests of the evening saw a performance by soloists of the Karelian State Philharmonic.
It is no coincidence that we hold these meetings on the eve of the "Old" New Year. Just at this time, it is customary to hold a “generous evening”, which has traditionally always been celebrated with folk festivals. On this day, people went to visit each other with congratulations and gifts.
So our friends, having received gifts from the National Library of Karelia, sincerely congratulated all the guests of the holiday on the coming 2023!
The evening turned out to be warm, friendly and cheerful, and the most important gift for all the participants of the meeting was friendly communication and new creative plans!
