14/12/2022. Presentation of tactile books 2022
December 14, 2022:
The National Library of Karelia held a presentation of tactile hand made books made at the library in 2022.
A tactile book is a multi-coloured book with drawings, three-dimensional figures and objects made of various materials that are as close as possible to the original. While reading a tactile book (in other words, feeling objects with fingers), a special child gets acquainted with natural phenomena, wildlife, and household items.
Marina Nikishina, Head of the library, made a welcoming speech. She told about the plans to create a resource centre for the creation of tactile books at the National Library.
At the presentation, designer Elena Fedorova shared her ideas for creating books, and Ekaterina Dobrynina, defectologist teacher, presented each book and talked about working with such publications in classes with children with disabilities.
Books made by Elena Fedorova are created in a single copy. The main function is to help a special child in examination, study and perception of the world around. Besides, such books can be used in the educational process for preschoolers and elementary school students.
