10/11/2022. Regional Studies of Libraries in Karelia: Experience, Results, Prospects

The National Library of Karelia held a seminar “Regional Studies of Libraries in Karelia: Experience, Results, Prospects” for professionals of public libraries of the republic.
The seminar was opened by Alexander Larionov, Head of the Department of National and Local Literature and Bibliography. Olga Viduta, Head of the Information and Reference Department, told about work experience with Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library; she covered in detail the collection of documents on the history of Karelia. The collection is available for viewing on the website of the Presidential Library.
Most of the seminar was dedicated to the regional studies of municipal libraries. Valeriya Sozina, Head of the Department of Forecasting and Development of the Segezha Central Library System, presented her experience in implementing the Green Corner eco-project. The topic of ecology and environmental education remains one of the priorities for municipal libraries.
The Central Library of the Belomorsk District presented a report on the formation of the electronic database Alexander Linevskiy. The creation of bibliographic databases and collections of full-text documents in libraries makes it possible to reveal and popularize the library collection.
Olga Kovlakova, Theatre Expert and Theatre Journalist, presented the experience of creating an audio performance-promenade Roerich's Serdobol. This is not the first presentation by Olga Kovlakova at the seminars of the National Library on the regional studies. Last year, the Theater Expert presented the experience of creating an audio performance-promenade Radius of Memory. This year, the theme of her speech was the technical aspects of creating an audio performance.
Experience in the field of genealogy was presented by Svetlana Andreeva, Head of the Electronic Services Sector of the Olonets National Library. The Olonets Library holds training sessions for everyone who wants to make their own family tree. Thanks to the research work of the inhabitants of the Olonets District, the library collection is being replenished with unique local history materials.
