10/06/2022. Folklore Petrozavodsk Excursion on the Day of Karelian Runes

Since 2020, the Day of Karelian Runes has been traditionally celebrated in Karelia in memory of a unique phenomenon of national culture - Karelian folklore. On this festive day, the staff of the National Library of Karelia organised a new excursion along the Folklore Petrozavodsk route.
The participants in the excursion visited the city places of memory of Arkhippa and Tatyana Perttunen, famous Karelian rune singers; Irina Fedosova, folk poetess and performer of lamentations; Ivan Ryabinin, Zaonezhsky storyteller who preserved bylina poems in his repertoire; Philip Gospodarev, storyteller, and also collectors of the unique folklore of Karelia.
The excursion was accompanied by excerpts from folklore texts of the performers of Karelian epic runes, Russian bylina poems, lamentations and fairy tales.
