On the All-Russian Day of Libraries, the National Library of Karelia joined the All-Russian network campaign Book Power. The initiative to organize the event has been presented by the colleagues from the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and the Republic of Crimea.
During the preparation for this campaign, the National Library of Karelia appealed to well-known and authoritative people, representatives of state authorities, culture and sports with a proposal to come to libraries that day (or send a video recording), read aloud excerpts from books reflecting the cultural heritage of the peoples of Russia and Karelia, and talk about the role of books and reading in their lives.
Everything has succeeded! The participants of such meetings, listeners (target audience) were mainly schoolchildren of different ages: from elementary grades to 17 years old.
The proposal of the National Library to meet young readers on our premises was answered by:
- Artur Parfenchikov, Head of the Republic of Karelia,
- Vladimir Lyubarsky, Mayor of the City of Petrozavodsk,
- Lyubov Kulakova, Chairman of the Public Chamber of the Republic of Karelia,
- Igor Lukin, Head Coach of Russia in Winter Swimming, World Champion,

Meeting of the Head of Karelia Artur Parfenchikov with senior pupils of E. Lönnrot Finno-Ugric school and the second-year students of PetrSU turned into an open and honest conversation about the role of books in human life.
Vladimir Lyubarsky, Mayor of the City of Petrozavodsk, met with fifth-graders of the Petrozavodsk school #2 and read aloud a fragment from Pages of the Stone Book by A. Linevsky, and used a copy of the book from his home library.
Not only had the main library of the republic joined this action, but also regional libraries, where meetings with representatives of authorities, public figures and representatives of culture took place. They read excerpts from books aloud.
The libraries of the Belomorsk District, the Prionezhsky District, the Olonets District and the Suoyarvi District Library also participated in the campaign. More than 30 libraries responded and implemented a good idea.
