12/04/2022. “Public Libraries of Karelia in the Context of the Library Development Strategy in the Russian Federation until 2030”

The National Library of Karelia held the annual online meeting of the heads of the public municipal libraries of Karelia "BiblioRegion-10" in the format of a videoconference. The theme of the conference was “Public Libraries of Karelia in the Context of the Library Development Strategy in the Russian Federation until 2030”.
The meeting was attended by 52 persons, incl. 40 heads and specialists of the public libraries (76,9%) from 16 municipal districts and 2 urban districts of Karelia and 10 heads of the departments of the National Library of Karelia. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Culture Electronic System: the Head of the GR Department of the Interface A Company and the Leading Specialist of the Support Department of the Interface A Company (Archangelsk).
The Head of the National Library of Karelia Marina Nikishina addressed the meeting participants with a welcoming speech. She wished everyone successful work and drew the attention of the heads and specialists to the need to create digital accessibility of the resources and services of the libraries of the republic, as well as the need to promote them in the Internet space, and the importance of the rapid acquisition of new professional competencies by library staff.
The attention of the meeting participants was focused on the issues of further development of librarianship in the Republic of Karelia in the Context of the Library Development Strategy in the Russian Federation until 2030.
Within the framework of the Meeting Program, important topics were discussed: “Modernization of Public Libraries in Karelia in the Context of “The Library Development Strategy in the Russian Federation until 2030” (N. Y. Feklicheva, the Head of the The Department of Organization and Methods of the Library Work of the National Library of Karelia); “The Results of Monitoring the Availability of Library Services” (G. A. Vlasova, the Chief Methodologist of the National Library of Karelia), “The First Steps towards the Modernization of the Medvezhyegorsk Central City Library named after I. Fedosova” (T. S. Galaktionova, the Head of the Medvezhyegorsk Central City Library named after I. Fedosova); “Kotkozero Rural Model Library named after Z. P. Dubinina and the Local Community: the Experience of Interaction in a Renewed Space” (Y. N. Kondratyeva, the Head of the Methodological Work Sector of the Olonets Central Library System).
M. M. Kulikova, the Chief Methodologist of the National Library of Karelia, presented the federal project “The Genius of the Place” on creating points of concentration of talents on the basis of model libraries. The Leading Methodologist of the Sortavala District Library A. A. Savenok told about events attended by the Sortavala District Library, which joined the project in the beginning of 2022.
The representatives of the Interface A Company demonstrated the possibilities and advantages of the Culture Electronic System in the work of the heads and specialists of cultural institutions, including public libraries.
Based on the results of the meeting, a Final Document is being prepared. It will define specific activities to be carried out by the heads of public municipal libraries of Karelia together with their colleagues during 2022. Also, the participants in the meeting were offered to prepare recommendations for the National Library of Karelia as a methodological center for public libraries of the republic.
