28/01/2022. The National Library of Karelia was awarded with a Letter of Gratitude for active participation in the All-Russian educational online project "Carousel of Folk Tales"
Carousel of Folk Tales is the All-Russian educational project, organized by the Association ”Rastim Chitatelya” (Eng. Growing a Reader) in partnership with libraries and aimed at popularizing Russian folk tales and fairy tales of the peoples of Russia.
Because of the project, the unique fairy-tale collection is dedicated to symbolizing the identity of each region and the unity of the peoples of Russia. The project helped to unite the efforts of specialists in developing children's interest in reading through acquaintance with the best fairy -tales of the peoples of Russia.
An expert board chose the fairy-tales for the online project “Carousel of Folk Tales”. Today, there are 93 videos made by libraries from 68 regions of Russia in the unique collection.
The collection contains fairy-tales both familiar and little known to a wide readership, that most vividly describe the traditions, customs and features of life of the local residents, the rare natural phenomena, the history of the origin of the native land, etc.
The best fairy-tale videos chosen by the expert board and shown at the All-Russian Family Reading Festival were awarded with Letters of Gratitude. Among them, there are fairy-tales recorded by specialists of the National Library of Karelia.
