08/09/2021. To the 90th anniversary of a Karelian writer Vladimir Brendoev

In Olonets, the final events of the XXI Republican Festival of Karelian Literature ”Täs synnyinrannan minun algu – Here My Motherland Is Beginning” were held. The Festival was dedicated to the 90th anniversary of a Karelian writer Vladimir Brendoev.
At a commemorative plaque in memory of Vladimir Brendoev on Polevaya Streeet, opening of festive events and ceremony of laying flowers were held. The guests of the event visited the poet's grave, participated in the planting of a commemorative tree on Komsomolskaya Street, visited a handicraft exhibition "Olonia's Crafts: From the Past to the Future" in the Olonets National Museum.
The National Library of Olonets presented a literary and musical performance ”Minun armas synnyinrandu – My Homeland”. There was held a round table discussion “Eläy kieli – eläy rahvas/ The Language Lives - the People Live”, where issues of book publishing and support of national languages were discussed, songs and poems in the Karelian language were sung, the ways of preserving the Karelian language, issues of its study in schools and institutions of additional education were discussed.
S. V. Kiselev, the Minister of National and Regional Policy of the Republic of Karelia presented letters of thanks to NGOs in Olonetsky district and gave new books published with the support of the budget of the Republic of Karelia to the library.
The festival events were attended by V. P. Lapichkova, the Scientific Secretry of the National Library of Karelia.
