29/03/2021. Meeting of directors of public municipal libraries of Karelia "Biblioregion-10"

The National Library of the Republic of Karelia held an annual meeting of directors of public municipal libraries of Karelia "Biblioregion-10" in the format of videoconference. The event was conducted with the support and participation of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Karelia and the Library Association of Karelia. The theme of the meeting was ”The Role of Central Municipal Libraries of the Republic of Karelia in the Implementation of the Culture National Project”.
The meeting was attended by 68 persons, ie. 52 heads and specialists of public libraries (76,5%) from 14 municipal districts and 2 urban districts of Karelia and 14 heads of departments of the National Library of Karelia. Varvara Lebedeva, the Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Karelia, and Tatiana Klimiuk, a specialist of the Department of Cultural Organizations Work Coordination of the Ministry of Culture, also took part on the meeting.
Marina Nikishina, the Head of the National Library of Karelia, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. She wished everyone successful work and drew the attention of the directors of the libraries to the most important and urgent moment in the professional life of the library community by showing a video of the meeting of the Government of the Russian Federation chaired by Mikhail Mishustin, who announced the support of the Government of the draft Strategy for the Development of Library Field in the Russian Federation until 2030. The document prepared by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation together with the professional community and presented by Olga Liubimova, the Minister of Culture of Russia, is aimed at solving the higher-level problems and carrying out a full-scale modernization of the library field.
The attention of the participants of the meeting was focused on the development of librarianship, which were discussed recently at workshops, sessions, meetings, forums, congresses, conferences and seminars.
The heads of the municipal libraries presented interesting experience in project implementation related to the creation of new model libraries in 2021 by Central Libraries of Olonets and Sortavala municipalities of the Republic of Karelia.
Based on the results of the meeting, a Final Document is being prepared; it will define specific activities to be carried out by the heads of public municipal libraries of Karelia together with their colleagues during 2021.
