05/02/2021. New editions added to the collection of the National Library
The National Library got books, published with the financial support of the Ministry of National and Regional Policy of the Republic of Karelia within the framework of projects of the Karelia - Finland Friendship Society implemented in 2020.
Books dedicated to the musical culture of Karelia and the peoples living on the territory of Ingermanland were given by the publisher Elena Barbashina.
The musical collection "100 Songs about Karelia" was published for the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Karelia. The collection contains previously unpublished vocal compositions about Karelia, both already known and created specially for this publication. The collection is unique in its concept and timing - all preparatory work was done in one year. The main work on the collection and preparation for the publication of songs was performed by the compiler of the collection Anastasia Salo, a composer, the Chairman of the Union of Composers of Karelia. The collection includes 54 songs about the republic, 46 songs are dedicated to cities, villages and places of Karelia. There are compositions in various genres in Russian, Finnish and Karelian languages in the book.
The collection "Folk Songs of Ingermanlandia" is a second revised and enlarged edition. The collection is dedicated to the song culture of the peoples living on the territory of Ingermanland. Samples of folk songs are presented in the original language with translation into Russian: epic, calendar, cumulative and lyrical songs, lullabies, roundelays, wedding songs, spells and lamentations. The collection contains a scholarly apparatus: a music supplement, notes, an index of performers and collectors, a list of villages and a register of Ingermanland materials found in the archives of the Karelian Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The books will be included in the collection of the National Library of Karelia and the central district libraries of the republic.
