15/10/2020. Results of the XXI All-Russian Seminar The Problems of Local History Studies of Libraries
The XXI All-Russian Seminar The Problems of Local History Studies of Libraries was held at the National Library of the Republic of Karelia.
The conference was organized by the Russian Library Association (Section Local History Studies in Contemporary Libraries), the Russian National Library and the National Library of the Republic of Karelia. All-Russian seminars The Problems of Local History Studies of Libraries have been organized by the Russian National Library in cooperation with regional authorities and regional libraries since 1996.
At the seminars, professionals consider the issues of strategy and organization of local history studies and educational activities in the libraries of the country. For many years, the seminar brings together everyone who is interested in the development of the local history movement in the Russian Federation. Among the speakers there are leading experts in their field - scientists, teachers, specialists from museums, archives and libraries.
The seminar was attended by representatives from Vladivostok, Irkutsk region, Leningrad region, Moscow, Murmansk region, Novosibirsk; Republics of Altai, Komi, Sakha (Yakutia); St. Petersburg, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug. The Republic of Karelia was represented at the seminar by specialists from the National Library of the Republic of Karelia, the National Archives of the Republic of Karelia and librarians from Belomorsk, Kondopoga and Olonets.
The XXI All-Russian Seminar was unique, because the most of the reports were read via conference calls. A total of 49 reports were delivered at the seminar, each of which caused a lively discussion.
The seminar held sessions on the following topics:
Local history projects of libraries (October 5);
Local history publishing activity (October 6);
Electronic local history resources and products: formation and promotion;
Local history bibliography and source study (October 7);
Local history studies at museums and archives; Ensuring the safety of local history documents and local publications; Local history studies offline: traditions and new opportunities (October 8).
Representatives of the Russian National Library and the Russian Library Association noted the high level of the seminar.
Summing up the results of the seminar: Nadezhda Balatskaya, senior researcher of the Bibliography and Local History Department of the Russian National Library, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Chairman of the Section Local History Studies in Contemporary Libraries of the Russian Library Association; Tatyana Leontyeva, the Head of the Department of the Electronic Library of the Murmansk State Regional Universal Scientific Library, member of the Committee of the Section Local History Studies in Contemporary Libraries of the Russian Library Association; Irina Germanova, the Deputy Head of the National Library of Karelia.
