10/06/2020. Online platform Pushkin Day at the Nationali Library of Karelia
For the first time in the history of the event, the National Library of Karelia, like many other Russian libraries, held Pushkin Day of Russia and Russian Language Day in the virtual mode.
Reading Pushkin’s poems is a must-have event on Pushkin Day. And although this year there was no traditional meeting at the monument to Alexander Pushkin, we still managed to unite our voices thanks to the virtual campaign Let’s Read Pushkin!
Children and adults read their favorite Pushkin’s poems in video and audio format. The virtual platforms of the Pushkin Day plunged us into the atmosphere of romance, love and, of course, fairy tales.
Little readers guessed riddles from real fairy-tale characters created by Pushkin, and went on a video journey dedicated to the Pushkin’s dictionary of obsolete vocabulary. The knowledge gained during the trip allowed the children to better understand and feel the atmosphere of the Pushkin’s era, the wisdom of fairy tales and the depth of the images of Pushkin’s characters.
The riddles did not end there. It turned out that in long-known fairy tales there are secrets that many of us have not noticed before! At the video lesson based on the tactile book There is a Green Oak by the Sea, children and their parents learned a lot about the poem with the same title? By the way, the guys could create both the Green Oak and the Wise Cat with their own hands thanks to online workshops on Pushkin’s Day.
And then we turned from the Pushkin’s poems to artistic and musical images.
The library organized two quizzes in the Instagram and VKontakte dedicated to characters of fairy tales and poems by Pushkin that are familiar from our childhood.
After that we returned again into the past to the XIX century! The century of true gentlemen and beautiful ladies. Several platforms of the program helped to feel the breath of this era.
The letters that are full of love and friendship, poetry, jealousy and passion revealed the innermost aspects of the soul and mind of the great genius in the creative video program, and a video review of Pushkin’s lifetime publications from the National Library’s collection helped to complement this picture.
Each era has its own laws that all, and even geniuses, must abide by. What was the life of our ancestors who lived in the era that we now call Pushkin’s era? By visiting the interactive platform “ Pushkin’s era. How was it? ”, the guests of the program learned about the rules of communication, ball etiquette, the code duello, they understood why a true gentleman needed a knife at the ball, and was it really lucky for the first lyceum students to have holidays every month?
After so many discoveries, your head can spin! It's time to take a walk!
Therefore, we invited guests to take two virtual walks at once, one on the near Pushkinskaya Street, and the second – along the Museum-Reserve of A. S. Pushkin, which preserves the memory of the poet in Mikhailovskoye, Trigorskoye and Petrovskoye estates.
After such a historical excursion, we returned again to the present day. On the online quiz Poetry Vs Rap, poetry experts tried to distinguish the poems by recognized poets from the works by contemporary artists.
The holiday of Pushkin’s poetry came to an end, it gave us many new discoveries and vivid emotions and, of course, the hope that we will meet the next Pushkin Day of Russia all together at the monument to A.S. Pushkin on the 6th of June.
