The National Library of Karelia has for the first time organized the virtual Library Night.
Together we have made historical and literary trips sitting on the sofa! The main platforms of this year were dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
Library Twilight for the young readers started with a video lesson Orders and Medals of Victory based on the unique handmade tactile book Orders of our Victories created by Elena Fyodorova, the painter of the National Library. The lesson was conducted by the teacher and defectologist of the National Library Ekaterina Dobrynina. The children learned about who and for what were awarded with the military awards of the Great Patriotic War.
How peers of today's teenagers lived and fought the enemy? A virtual book review entitled Let the World be Peaceful! was dedicated to this topic. The main characters of these books were children, who had to endure serious trials.
At 6 pm. the work of the main platforms of the Library Night began. Our guests heard a story Expectation read by a writer Yana Zhemoitelite, took part in the literary video marathon Let’s Read Poems about the War and a virtual excursion on the streets of Petrozavodsk dedicated to soldiers-writers. Together with heroes of history and books, we walked along the roads of the Great Patriotic War at the platform Medicine in a Soldier's Overcoat and could read books published in 1945 at the virtual exhibition Books of Victory.
And of course, intellectual and creative platforms awaited our readers! The virtual quiz Hello, Einstein Online, as always, prepared for its participants unusual questions and multi-format tasks to test logic and acumen. The great library quiz was a virtual excursion to the official platforms of the National Library online. The library staff asked questions, and the artifacts received for the correct answers helped the quest participants to solve the Main Secret of the Library.
Soloists of the Musical Theater of Karelia performed favorite songs from popular domestic films of different years for library night owls.
Game platforms of the Library Night attracted the attention of both adults and children. The participants of the literary challenge Back to the Past tried to guess the names of the classics of Russian literature using strongly altered portraits of writers. The visitors of the media platforms of the Library Night flipped through the pages of the Journal of the Olonets Governorate searching answers to the questions of the interactive quiz Everyday Life 1909, and at the same time they managed to make a stand for their main virtual assistant or gadget at the master class.
At the time of completion of the Library Night 2020 at 22 pm, the number of virtual visits to media platforms of the National Library of the Republic of Karelia exceeded 19,200.
