January 18, 2020:
The National Library opened a personal exhibition Kesryän ošua / I’m spinning happiness of Karelian painter Ilya Padchin
This is the third exhibition of the artist, held at the National Library of Karelia. This time, the artist did not limit himself to the search for parallels between the Karelian epic poem “Kalevala” and the petroglyphs of the Lake Onega and the White Sea, as well as his observations of the harsh and mysterious nature of the Karelian north. The exhibition includes several portraits of artists. In addition, illustrations for the new project “Courses of the Karelian Language and Culture” painted by request of Karjalan Sivistysseura Society are presented for the first time.
These courses are attended by teachers of Karelian language from Karelian schools, who study North Karelian, teachers of preschool education, representatives of the TV and Radio Information Programs Service in national languages, representatives of the Publishing House Periodika, artists of the National Theater, museum workers and representatives of cultural institutions whose activities are associated with the use of the Karelian language. Courses are also attended by citizens of Finland, who have Karelian roots and want to preserve the language and culture of their ancestors. Interest in the courses was shown by the Karelians of the Tver region, who are actively engaged in the preservation and development of the Karelian language in their region.
At the opening ceremony, the artist Ilya Padchin told guests the about his works and plans for the future.
The colleagues, friends and fans of the author came to congratulate him on the opening of the exhibition. Alexander Akulov, sculptor of the Creative Union of Artists of Karelia, was glad for his friend and colleague and wished the author to illustrate all Kalevala runes.
The exhibition will continue its work until March 5, 2020. We invite everyone.
