The opening of the first model library of a new generation in Karelia under the Culture project is one of the main events of 2019 for the whole republic.
This was made possible thanks to the participation in the competition for creation of model municipal libraries in the Russian Federation held by the Ministry of Culture of Russia in March 2019.
The regional project office, the National Library of Karelia, together with the B. E. Kravchenko Central Library of the Kondopoga District prepared a tender application that scored 164 points out of 200 possible (the minimum passing score was 124).
Having become a winner, the library received financial support from the federal budget in the amount of 5,000,000 rubles. The funds received were spent on routine repairs, purchase of new printed books in the amount of more than 3,000 copies, the subscription of LiteRes and periodicals, new computer and interactive digital equipment, as well as modern furniture.
The model library is provided with high-speed Internet for access to various electronic and digital resources, digitized periodicals.
The re-equipment of the library according to the model standard was intended to make it a modern platform providing readers with equal access to high-quality information resources, an informal communication space, and a place to fulfill people's requests for participation in public life.
Yanishpolye Village Model Library appeared before readers with a completely updated interior and with new comfortable functional areas. There are places for quite reading and group classes, an interactive game space for intellectual and creative leisure. Special equipment purchased for the village workshop will allow library users to realize their creative abilities in pottery, weaving and other crafts.
The new library has become a multifunctional, informational, cultural and educational center in the village of Yanishpolye. Equipping the library with modern computer technology, new interactive digital equipment and software with Internet access will allow all villagers to have equal access to regional, Russian and foreign information resources as city citizens have.
Larisa Podsadnik, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Karelia, thanked everyone who took part in creating the library of the future and wished the library itself to boldly look into the future and implement interesting projects and ambitious plans.
