18/11/2019. Philologists-linguists competed in the Interpretation autumn game series
November 7 and 14, 2019:
The National Library held language games Interpretation. The participants were students of the Institute of Philology (Petrozavodsk State University).
The first in the team game were the second-year students of the specialty Foreign philology (Finnish language and literature, English language), and then first-year students of the specialty Foreign philology (English language and literature, German language) competed among themselves.
The participants of the game went through six rounds. They compared sentences in the original language and translated into Russian, translated sentences of a fiction book, guessed what words a participant was describing using pantomime, conducted “negotiations” between “colonizers” and “natives”.
The tasks became more complicated because the players are advanced learners of foreign languages. Games were held in a warm atmosphere, with humor and excitement. The “Interpretation” project, as an additional extracurricular form of language learning, arouses interest among teachers of the English language.
