07/07/2019. Local history program "Petroquest"
July 3, 2019:
In the framework of the project Summer with the National Library, the exciting local history program Petroquest was held. Young readers of the library felt like real time travelers. Making difficult tasks, they, together with the virtual hero - schoolboy Vasya, visited Petrozavodsk of different eras. The children found themselves in the ancient village of Solomennoye, in the place of which the eponymous city district appeared, became witnesses of the construction of the Petrovsky plant, met Saint Thaddeus, the commander Alexander Suvorov, the plant director Charles Gascoigne and other famous historical persons.
At the end of the first part of the program, all participants of Petroquest were asked to make their own map of “old Petrozavodsk”. The appearance of the city at the turn of the XIX - XX centuries was recreated with the help of scrap-booking. Each participant took his work with him in memory of the event.
After lunch in the Library Cafe, adventure seekers waited for the second part of the program, dedicated to the Soviet era. Young readers made an interesting virtual trip to Petrozavodsk of the 1950s – 60s and easily recognized familiar places, met an unusual professor and unraveled another “time anomaly” - they helped a pioneer girl, who got from the 1980s to our days.
The children had a unique opportunity to compare and feel two times - the Soviet era and the present time, to try on the hobbies of Soviet children who grew up when there was no Internet.
