The professionals of the National Library of Karelia took part in VII International Cultural Forum. The National Library of Karelia presented one of its numerous programs. An interactive educational program In the Land of the Mysterious Sampo was an exciting creative event for the participants of the conference Regional Programs for the Implementation of the Concept for the Development of Children's and Youth Reading in Russia. The conference was held at the Central Children's Library named after A. S. Pushkin.
II St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum is deservedly recognized as a world-class cultural event that annually attracts thousands of cultural experts from around the world. This is a unique venue where actors and writers, musicians and businessmen, public figures and representatives of the academic community gather together. Forum Organizers: the Government of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Government of St. Petersburg.

Heads of libraries from Saratov and Voronezh, Ulyanovsk and Vladimir, Murmansk and Ufa took an active part in the creative program. The Karelian and Finnish epic poem “Kalevala” became a book guide to the past of our region, and its heroes, together with the specialists of the National Library, were reliable assistants in studying the history, language and culture of Karelia.
The program presented the magical wonder-mill Sampo, which is a symbol of prosperity and happiness according to legend.
The guests of the program had an opportunity to demonstrate their abilities in studying the Karelian language, creating the Karelian amulet doll, they learned about Vottovaara mountain, the magic of sieidis and stone labyrinths; successfully coped with tasks on the Karelian costume, customs and traditions; played the main characters of the epic poem, as well as got acquainted with the unique book editions of Kalevala.
